We are excited to welcome everyone to the start of our Spring 2026 CFA Chess & Science Program starting this Saturday, February 7th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM!
Reminder: Zelle/PayPal treasurer@cfali.org if not already sent the $20 donation or communicated other payment options with a CFA member.
To help ensure a smooth and safe experience, please carefully review the following important drop-off and parking instructions:
No Parking in Facility Lot
The Wyandanch-Wheatley Heights Ambulance Corp (WWHAC) parking lot is not available for general parking.
Please Use These Parking Options:
- Street parking along Merritt Avenue or nearby side streets
- Public lot directly across the street from the WWHAC building
DO NOT BLOCK AMBULANCE BAY DOORS
Please be extremely careful NOT to block or stop in front of the ambulance vehicle bay doors during drop-off or pick-up. These doors must remain completely clear at all times for emergency access.
Building Entrance is in Rear
All participants and parents should enter the building from the rear entrance, which is accessible through the facility’s parking lot. Please walk around to the back even if you’re parking offsite.

Science Session Highlights
Hands-Only CPR & First Aid Training
Date: Saturday, February 28, 2026
Location: Wyandanch-Wheatley Heights Ambulance Corp
This interactive workshop will be led by Mrs. Tanya Rivers with the Ambulance Corp team and will introduce students to essential life-saving skills in a safe and age-appropriate setting.
Students will learn:
- Hands-Only CPR basics
- Age appropriate First Aid instructions
Important Notes: Students will participate in floor-based training. Please ensure your child wears comfortable clothing.
Certificate: All participants will receive a Certificate of Completion.
Financial Literacy Youth Program
Date: Saturday, March 28, 2026
Location: Chase Bank, 1551 Straight Path, Wyandanch, NY 11798
This offsite workshop at Chase Bank (Wyandanch) is designed for kids and offers information through an interactive and relatable session; kids will learn about money basics, budgeting, and buying decisions. They will also be able to meet a banker and learn what is required to open an account. Additionally, we will discuss ways to help prevent falling victim to scams and fraud.
The Science of Flight: Exploring Airplanes, Aviation Careers, and Jet Engines

We are honored to welcome Professor Louis Scala, with over 40 years of experience teaching various Aviation courses at Farmingdale State College. Prof Scala has generously offered to lead a special offsite session for our scholars at the Farmingdale State College Flight Center on Exploring Airplanes, Aviation Careers, and Jet Engines. This is a hands-on opportunity for our scholars to explore the exciting world of aviation and aerospace.

- 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM: Interactive lecture including:
- Aircraft anatomy
- How airplanes fly
- Jet propulsion systems
- U.S. air transportation system
